Trouble with the new REST API
I’ve been attempting to test the new REST API, with this rather lengthy request:
In Design: Click “File” menu, click “OPEN” then browse to the folder where you have saved the file. Click “Open” to view the file.
In Block/Section: Click “File” menu, click “OPEN” then browse to the folder where you have saved the file. Click “Open” to view the file.
In View: Click “File” menu, click “OPEN” then browse to the folder where you have saved the file. Click “Open” to view the file.
In Expert/Status: Click “File” menu, click “OPEN” then browse to the folder where you have saved the file. Click “Open” to view the file.
Then go to “Start” menu, click “Task Manager”.
On the list, click on “Processes”, on the right-hand side under “Background Processes”, click on “Autocad”.
A dialog box will appear to the right with the process ID listed. Click “OK” and click on “OK” again.
Then go to “Start” menu, click “Command Prompt”.
A dialog box will appear with “C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2017\setup.exe” listed in the title. Click “OK” and click on “OK” again.
If an error message is displayed, read it and try to re-run the operation again.
You are now ready to begin using Autocad for making architectural designs.

You can link to external files by clicking on the “File” menu on your toolbar and clicking on the “Create Linking” command under “Add Items”.
How to open CAD files in Autocad
Step 1. Click on the “File” menu on your toolbar.
Step 2. Click on the “Open” command under “Add Items”.
Step 3. Browse to the location of the CAD files (in this case, the file C:\GIS Files\Satellite Image of the Building), click “OK”.
Make sure that the “Show Linked Items” is unchecked.
