“Good morning, the sun has already risen there on the farm “… If you read the music in the rhythm of the famous children’s song, it means that Mundo Bita is one of the darling artists among the little ones in your house. And for the happiness of the parents, 2021 arrives as the debut year of the second album of “Bita e os Animais”, with a song being released every first Friday throughout the months.
In an exclusive interview to the site Baby.com, Chaps Melo, singer, composer and creator of Mundo Bita, explains why the theme of the new production is similar to that of the first album, released in 2013. “Now in 2021, we are experiencing a special period, because Mr. Plot, our producer, completes 10 years. So we decided to revisit the animals, with much more baggage and structure, but bringing together the same disposition and creative freedom ”, he details.
The first song on the second album called “Lá no Galinheiro” already has more than four million views on the channel. And this Friday, March 5, the children’s audience gets to know the song ‘Amiga Baleia’, produced in partnership with Greenpeace. It tells the story of the great sea animal being saved by Bita, Lila, Dan and Tito from a boat that tries to hunt her.
A plunge into the creator’s inspirations
For the creation of the famous songs among the children, Chaps comments that the team that unites within the production company chooses the themes of the songs and, then, he begins to navigate the creative process of writing and harmonizing them.
“I usually compose at home, on the way to Mr. Plot, doing the dishes, in the middle of everyday activities. I’m always recording. I keep humming ideas on my cell phone, because I already work lyrics and music together ”, details the singer.
And, not by chance, the inspirations that support his songs are none other, none other than the little ones who are part of his routine, like his daughters, nieces and nephews.
But don’t think that the trajectory stops there: Mundo Bita’s social networks are also means for other parents to say what they miss to hear. “Thus, we can say that we produced our content to millions of hands”, completes Chaps.
The influence of the singer’s daughters in Mundo Bita
For those who do not know, the protagonist of the musical group was a drawing inspired by the circus universe made by Chaps on the wall of the firstborn Isabel, when she was still in her mother’s belly. A year after the birth of his daughter, with Mr. Plot already working, Mundo Bita was created and the protagonist got this name in honor of the father of the composer who liked the football player nicknamed Bita, from the Nautical team.
With this familiar touch present since the beginning of the creation of the project, the second daughter of the composer, Martina, embarks with the eldest and they are the first to come into contact with the creative world that surrounds him. “Puppies are a daily inspiration in my life. They accompany me, suggest songs, arrive with the craziest ideas imaginable … Their relationship with Mundo Bita is very fun! ”, Says the composer.
He even jokes that they get the fun part of the process, like inspiration, love and laughter. He is left with the most laborious area of creation, which extends to the construction of the visuals of the songs.
How are the group’s clips drawn?
When the song’s composition is ready, Chaps explains that it is time to unite with the musicians who compose Mr. Plot to start recording. “With the track already well underway, other team members enter the process. We have the script phase, then storyboard, animatic, illustration and animation. With the music mixed, we finished editing the clip, reviewed it and are ready to take on the world ”, he details.
Among the different singular characteristics of Mundo Bita, the composer explains that the most worked are the sweetness and softness of the voice, and emphasizes that he accompanies each step necessary to reach the product we have contact with. On the other hand, he adds: “Our team is made up of great talents and has creative freedom to contribute with their artistic and conceptual visions in every detail of the content”.
Concern for diversity
The care to keep Mundo Bita always up-to-date also made it a means of spreading diversity. For this, when creating a song and a clip that will talk about subjects belonging to social minorities, a field search is made with institutions specialized in the subject.
For example, in the song ‘A Diferença É o que Une’, together with blind and deaf characters, there is also a little boy in a wheelchair. And so that he could be represented correctly, without falling into any prejudiced stereotype, the producers established contact with the Association for Assistance to Disabled Children (AACD).
When the subject was ancestry, which resulted in a book and a song called ‘I Feel the Feel’, Lázaro Ramos was invited to participate in the process, because the protagonist of both written and musical history is Dan, a black boy. “We try to listen and give a voice to those who have the property to speak. We are very happy to also serve as a bridge in the conduction of information ”, completes the composer.
The changes brought about by the pandemic
Regarding the physical space, Chaps says that Mr. Plot is a small and integrated studio, in which people worked together in harmony. However, with the pandemic caused by the covid-19, the scenario has changed. “With the team at home since March last year, we missed the contact, the conversations, the suggestions being given live, the lunch on Fridays, the celebrations at each launch. This leaves a gap that flows both in that longing for the day to day and in the loss of productive speed ”, he reflects.
Only, at the same time, this brought other opportunities to fans of Mundo Bita. “In 2020, I participated in two lives very large, with a set studio and production very similar to that of a Show do Bita. From then on, I confess that people started to recognize me more and I established a greater contact with the public through social networks ”, he explains.
Thus, Chaps ends by punctuating something very common to the artistic class and other means of work that depended on contact with the public to happen: with a pandemic, it was necessary to reinvent itself to make entertainment continue to exist and help people even from afar.
